Monitoring the Skyrocketing Demand for Ethereum (ETH) Staking

The Ethereum merger happened about 250 days ago, and the demand for ETH staking is rising. In addition, last month’s Shapella upgrade, which facilitates the withdrawal of staked Ethereum, has caused the demand for validators on the Ethereum blockchain to skyrocket.

At first, the Shapella upgrade caused a considerable exit of validators from the network as they unstaked their tokens and left. Consequently, this led to a withdrawal of about 1 million ETH tokens during the first two weeks of the upgrade. However, to curtail the exit of validators, the network had to limit the exit of validators to 1,800 per day. This helped the network sustain itself during the departure of validators.

Interestingly, since the beginning of this month (May), validators have stopped exiting the network. Subsequently, there are about 64,000 validators in the queue waiting to be admitted into the network. Also, ever since the end of the validators’ exits, there has been an increase in the flow of the Ethereum token into staking, as about 4.3 million Ethereum tokens have flowed into the staking contract.

Due to the increased activity on the blockchain, validators have witnessed a considerable increase in their yields. As a result, this has increased charges, which has favored validators who get some of their staking yields via transaction charges that are produced by the Ethereum network. At some point, validators’ yield rose to 8% but has since decreased to around 6%.

To Investor

The Ethereum network is getting stronger as interest in it continues to grow. Looking at the queue of validators, it appears that the current trend on the Ethereum network may not change soon. Consequently, this makes Ethereum one of the best cryptocurrencies one can invest in.
