The launch of Monad, one of the most eagerly awaited events of this cycle, is drawing nearer.
Monad, a parallelized, EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain, has attracted $225M in funding from notable investors like Coinbase, Electric Capital, and Paradigm. Having been in testnet since March, it has already achieved an impressive 10,000 transactions per second, fueling speculation about its potential to revolutionize decentralized finance (DeFi).
As the blockchain gains more visibility, several teams are starting to develop on the network, offering an early glimpse into the potential of Monad’s DeFi ecosystem. Let’s explore some of the most talked-about projects shaping this landscape.
TayaSwap
TayaSwap operates as a DeFi hub for Monad, introducing key features such as Concentrated Liquidity Pools and Dynamic Liquidity Pools to the network, while also enabling customizable trading through its Dapp as a Service (DaaS) platform.
Concentrated Liquidity Pools allow liquidity providers to focus their assets within specific price ranges, greatly improving capital efficiency—an advantage amplified by Monad’s high throughput and low transaction costs. Dynamic Liquidity Pools, on the other hand, adjust positions automatically in response to market fluctuations, optimizing liquidity without requiring manual intervention.
These innovative features form the bedrock of Monad’s DeFi ecosystem. TayaSwap aims to build on this foundation with its DaaS platform, offering a no-code terminal that empowers users to design and deploy custom dapps. With this tool, users can create tailored liquidity pools, trading pairs, and fee structures, expanding the flexibility and reach of the ecosystem.
Kintsu
Kintsu is a liquid staking protocol poised to launch on Monad, to make liquid staking a foundational element of the network from its early days.
The Kintsu team stresses that liquid staking not only strengthens network security by encouraging greater participation but also acts as a key driver for DeFi growth on Monad. New Layer 1 chains like Monad often encounter a “cold start” problem, where liquidity is limited and staked gas tokens are locked up, making it harder to foster a dynamic DeFi ecosystem early on.
By incorporating liquid staking from the outset, Kintsu aims to boost Monad’s security and ensure a more fluid supply of liquidity, positioning the network for long-term success.
Kuru
Kuru is a decentralized exchange (DEX) on Monad that utilizes a Central Limit Order Book (CLOB) system, offering an alternative to the more common Automated Market Makers (AMMs). By adopting this approach, Kuru aims to deliver tighter spreads and more favorable user pricing.
Mirroring traditional market mechanisms seen on centralized exchanges, this model allows market makers to set more competitive prices. Kuru’s goal is to eventually phase out AMMs, enabling a broader range of assets to be traded while simplifying liquidity provision. Unlike AMMs, Kuru’s design reduces the need for active position management, allowing even novice market makers to easily participate.
aPriori
aPriori is an upcoming liquid staking protocol for Monad, designed to boost staking rewards by leveraging MEV (Maximal Extractable Value)—the extra profits validators can earn by controlling the order of transactions within a block.
This protocol introduces a unique MEV infrastructure tailored specifically for Monad, optimizing transaction handling to maximize value extraction. By strategically organizing transactions, aPriori can generate additional profits, which are then redirected to enhance stake yields.
With its focus on increasing stakeholder participation through higher returns, aPriori aims to bolster Monad’s security. A higher stake rate strengthens the network’s consensus mechanism, contributing to its long-term stability and resilience.
Yet, Monad Has More on the Horizon
With Kuru, TayaSwap, Kintsu, and aPriori leading the charge, Monad is already beginning to attract a wide range of projects to its growing DeFi ecosystem.
These early initiatives reveal the potential of Monad’s high speed and low transaction costs to power innovative DeFi solutions. From Kuru’s CLOB-based DEX to TayaSwap’s sophisticated liquidity pools and DApp creation platform, and from Kintsu’s liquid staking protocol to aPriori’s MEV-enhanced staking rewards, Monad’s ecosystem is set for robust development.
As excitement builds for the mainnet launch, additional EVM-compatible protocols like Curvance and Nostra are preparing to go live on Monad, hinting that this new Layer 1 could bring an impressive array of projects on board to attract new users right from the start.
